We have three kids in the family, and everyone wants their pizza just the way they like it. Unfortunately, those are all different ways! So that’s when I decided to start making pizza dough, then put out a bunch of toppings and let them make their own. You know what? When they make their own they always like it! Not only that, but they have fun making them and it is a good family activity. In fact, letting them make the dough makes it even more fun. Kids, hands and flour is kind of a magical combination for smiles and fun.
Pizza dough is easy. Three cups of flour, one tablespoon of instant rise yeast, one cup of slightly warm water, a teaspoon of salt, a tablespoon of honey, and a tablespoon of olive oil. Mix the dry ingredients first. Then knead for six or seven minutes. Place in an oiled bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Let rise until doubled in size. Portion it into three or four balls and let it rise for another forty five minutes. Roll it out, top it, and bake it at 425 in the oven until crispy on the bottom. This is an especially fun activity for the kids when they are home for the holidays!
