Frying Pan ‘Deep Dish’ Pizza Pie


  • 8 ounces pie dough
  • 2 ounces turkey pepperoni
  • 4 ounces ham, cut into .25 inch cubes
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 cup bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • 3 cups mozzarella cheese coarsely shredded
  • 1/2 cup pizza or spaghetti sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. Parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/2 tsp. Dried oregano — crushed
  • salt and fresh ground pepper to taste

  • Place 1 Tbsp. olive oil in a medium non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add pepperoni and ham to pan. Sauté until meats are rendered and slightly browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Place the second Tbsp. of olive oil in the pan over medium heat and add onions and green peppers. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Sauté until onions are soft and translucent. Remove from pan and set aside.
  • Roll out pie dough using bench flour so dough does not stick to your board. Roll it until it is a few inches larger in diameter that the frying pan.
  • Place the dough in the pan so it is centered and is draped over the edges.
  • Place half the mozzarella cheese in the bottom of the pan on top of the dough. Spread pizza sauce out evenly over the cheese. Spread half the meat and vegetables over the sauce in an even pattern.
  • Place the rest of the mozzarella on top and spread evenly. Top evenly with the rest of the meat and vegetables.
  • Sprinkle on the parmesan cheese and the dried oregano. Turn in and crimp the crust around the edge.
  • Place in a 400 degree oven until the crust is golden brown (approx. 30 minuties).
  • Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting.
